The Summer/Fall activities of the New England S2KI/NES2KO members.
During July, Lainey 8484 and her +1, Rick. were pleased to host their second annual country drive and cookout. While poor weather led to a few cancellations, they had 14 cars show up for the drive. There were 11 S2000s, a Z, a Prelude, and a Miata.
The rain began right after the drive did, and the drive was about to be cut short. However, the S2000 car gods smiled down upon them and the rain stopped, and the tops went down. The ride took folks thorough back roads of Dartmouth, and Westport, MA, then into Tiverton, RI, and more back roads into MA and back to Lainey and Rickís house for a cookout.
Total number of folks attending the drive, the cookout, or both numbered around 30. It is said to be the most folks Lainey and Rick have ever fed at one time.
Later in the season, Rick and Lainey introduced a few folks to ìFrench Meat Pieî by hosting the ìMeat Pie Festival.î Noticing a new guy lurking about Vintage, Lainey convinced Bruce/The Toon to join in the festivities. It was his first meet ever and he was shown just how much fun this group can be. As a kind gesture, he brought the hostess some flowers, and long time member Steve Bass saw his ration of cookies usually supplied by Lainey depleted. The rivalry for baked goods continues.
Towards the end of the season, Lainey & Rick (Have they no life other than S2000 events?) hosted a Mystery ride with dinner at a local restaurant. They had 7 S2000s in attendance along with the required Porsche, Z, and Prelude. The ride took them thorough the towns of Acushnet, Freetown, Middleboro and Rochester, and then on to a small Italian Restaurant in New Bedford for dinner. The evening concluded with a few games of pool at Lainey & Rickís.
The last ìofficialî event of the season was the Mohawk Trail Ride planned and hosted by Paivag/George on October 14th. S2000s arrived in Deeerfield, MA from CT, MA, NH, and VT. When the group left the parking lot, there were 24 Ss in a row! A somewhat spirited drive was made to the Mohawk Trail State Park Along the way, djweaver of New England was found on the side of the road, sitting in his S waiting for the group to go by. (Some people can never show up on time.) The group proceeded to the Mohawk State Forest where a BBQ was held. No one went away hungry! After lunch, the drive continued down Route 2, to just beyond the hairpin turn. The group gathered together to say goodbye and folks went on their separate ways. Another successful Mohawk drive and another great season for NESKO/S2KI meets.
